University Interim Committee, certain classes.

Some of the University buildings have been re-conditioned to provide class-rooms, residences for staff and students, and offices. Several members

of the University staff have returned, and will shortly be joined by other newly recruited lecturers.

This makes it possible to offer for properly qualified students as from October 21, 1946, the resumption of courses in English, Chinese, History, Geography, Logic, French, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, in preparation for examinations on the standard of first year examinations for degrees, according to the regulations in force in 1941.

The qualification for attending those classes is a pass in the Hong Kong University Matriculation examinations, or in the equivalent examination which was held in Hong Kong in June of this year, or in any other examination which the University authorities on due application have agreed to accept as the equivalent of the Hong Kong University Matriculation Examination.

Applications for entry to the above mentioned courses should be submitted in writing not later than October 16, to the Registrar, the University of Hong Kong. No applicant should come to the University in expectation of attending classes or taking up residence, till he has received from the Registrar notification that his application is accepted.

For the accommodation of students attending those classes, Eliot Hall

made in the first instance to the Registrar with a statement as to which of the two Halls is preferred, so far as both may be available.

As it has not yet been possible to provide benches in lecture rooms, all students are advised to bring stools or chairs light enough to be easily portable from lecture to lecture.

For residence in hostel, students must each provide their own bed and

bedding.

General conditions of living will be austere.

Tuition fees for the first term will be $200 per student, whether

the courses taken are for Arts, Science, Medicine or Engineering.
